I returned home this week from a two-week stint in Upstate New York as part of team covering Bassmaster fishing tournaments. The final morning of the event I was up at 3 a.m. (no, I didn't have to be — just couldn't sleep), so I made it to the launch site way before the sunrise.
I'm so glad I did!
I knew it would be something special when the first light of day began to color the clouds, so I found two wonderful compositions using boats at the dock. One was a sailboat moored at the dock, and the other was a pleasure cruiser aptly named "Utopia."
Then all I had to do was move from one to the other, giving the floating dock enough time to stop moving before I tripped the shutter.
I absolutely LOVE a great sunrise, so these two images are some of my favorites of the year. Hopefully they will provide you with the feeling of peace I found while standing behind the camera.
