AuSable Chasm is just one of the many amazing scenes I photographed during my 2021 trip to New York.
My wife and I arrived in New York's Finger Lakes region a week ago, and that began what has been seven amazing days of photographing the beauty from Watkins Glen to the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain.
This is my third trip to rural New York, and I have fallen in love with the beauty of the state - and the warmth of the people. My wife Yvette, who I lovingly call My Trusty Assistant (MTA for short), has never been his far north.
We started by walking through Watkins Glen State Park, which I first shot in 2019 while working a Bassmaster fishing tournament. It was so much fun watching the wonder in MTA's eyes as we walked through the amazing gorge.
We then made a quick stop at Ithaca Falls before driving through the Adirondack Mountains to Plattsburgh on the banks of gorgeous Lake Champlain. I had another Bassmaster Elite Series event to work, but we still managed to shoot some wonderful waterfalls.
Our first stop was at High Falls Gorge, which is an amazing cut in the rocks through which the AuSable River roars. And we also made an evening drive to AuSable Chasm, where I shot a truly beautiful print of the waterfalls there.
And the sunrises over Lake Champlain were just awesome!
I finished out the trip by working the Bassmaster Elite Series event on the St. Lawrence River, which provided another opportunity to run around the stunning 1000 Islands area. I mean, that place is AMAZING, with islands occupied by structures ranging from quaint shanties to elaborate castles.
I took the opportunity to photograph both Singer Castle and Boldt Castle, although I still need to process the latter. But you can click here to see the stunning Singer Castle!
It's been such a blast, and now we head out to drive through Vermont and New Hampshire before spending five days in Maine. I can't wait to see what else New England has in store!

Lake Champlain did not disappoint, providing another incredible sunrise!
Ithaca Falls was one our first stops after arriving in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York.
